HARDWARE COMPONENTS:
- Central unit based on mini PC, hosting WinXP or Linux
- Secondary unit integrating OEM Scanner, Speaker, Led, Buttons, LCD Display
- Battery unit
- GPS receiver

SOFTWARE COMPONENT:
- Dedicated client software to upload/download data and
diagnose the system
Based on the experiences matured in mobile
computing, VRMedia is now able to propose a postal certification system
using wearable
technologies,
able to temporally and geografically trace the mail delivery
operations. The device is operating both outdoor, during the delivery
stage, and indoor, to update and upload/download data.
The system exploits the natural direction of the market in the field of embedded electronics, which sees the migration from ARM-based platforms (PDAs) which need semplified Operating Systems (such as Linux Embedded, Windows Mobile etc.) to x86 equivalent platforms able to use standard Operating Systems (Linux, Windows etc.) and costituting out-and-out PCs, ultra-portable and low consumption.
THE PRODUCT
The system is not contained in a single case, rather it is distributed into several units installed on a belt. This leads to a modular solution where each component can be easily replaced and/or updated.
Using PC OEM components allows to fully engineer the shape of the device and to realize a wearable configuration. The distribution of the component on a single belt (cables are shown to illustrate the connectivity, but in the actual device they pass inside the belt), ensures a practical wearability and freedom of movement.
PC CONFIGURATION
The system also operates in PC mode, in order to allow system diagnostic and data download/upload. To allow this, the central unit is equipped with VGA, USB and RS232 interfaces.
